Want To Save The World? Start from your Desktop

The world is a mess. Yes? Yes. So we all want to save the world, but can’t seem to leave our desks. So here are a few websites and programs which are aimed at getting crowd-sourced computer and people power to change the world. Take a pick and contribute!

1. Folding@Home

Folding@home is a distributed computing project — people from throughout the world download and run software to band together to make one of the largest supercomputers in the world.

I started on this way back with my first mac in 1999. I haven’t had the chance to update my stats fro several years…

2. Games With A Purpose (GWAP)

When you play a game at Gwap, you aren’t just having fun. You’re helping the world become a better place. By playing our games, you’re training computers to solve problems for humans all over the world.

Play games like ESP, Tag a Tune, Verbosity, Squigl, Matchin, Flipit and PopVideo to help computers and networks work better. When they work better, we work better.

3. foldit

Foldit is a revolutionary new computer game enabling you to contribute to important scientific research.

I made it past the tutorial, but failed on several challenges. Hope you do better.
