Organised by the Multimedia Development Corp (MDeC) and Global Entrepreneurship Sdn Bhd, the two-day conference will give opportunity to Malaysian entrepreneurs to learn critical skills from some of the best global minds in the business.

This symposium, which will be held on Oct 20 and 21, will feature a line-up of 17 A-list speakers and industry experts sharing their insights and experiences via a series of keynote addresses, panel discussions and pitching clinics.

Among the speakers at the symposium are Jawed Karim, co-founder of video-sharing site YouTube, Konstantin Guericke, co-founder of LinkedIn, Steve Koskie, co-founder of DipDive.com and Shawn Fanning, the creator of Napster and current chief executive officer of Path.com, a photo-sharing and social networking site.

MDeC chief executive officer Datuk Badlisham Ghazali, said that the SVC2M platform will offer Malaysians a chance to showcase their startup ideas to leading entrepreneurs from Silicon Valley.

“This will give them the opportunity to shine on the international stage and increase Malaysia’s visibility and relevance as an ICT hub,” he said.

Startups also stand a chance to win an exclusive invitation to SVC2M. All they have to do is submit an individual entry or a team entry (maximum three members) via an online application form at startupmalaysia.org, detailing their ideas.

In addition to attending SVC2M, selected entrepreneurs will also take part in an intensive workshop called the StartupExperience Innovation Camp.

Entrepreneurs will also have the opportunity to win a round trip to Silicon Valley, work with the world’s best entrepreneurial minds and pitch to international venture capitalists for funding at the StartupMalaysia Programme to be unveiled on Oct 20.

Closing date for submission of ideas is on Oct 10.

MDeC is the custodian of the MSC Malaysia initiative which aims to leap frog Malaysia’s knowledge economy while Global Entrepreneurship is the founder of StartupMalaysia.org, an initiative inspired by US president Barack Obama’s Startup America, which aims to celebrate, inspire and accelerate high-growth entrepreneurship.
