The Zeronauts – A New Breed Of Leaders – SIF Event

A recent survey of 766 CEOs worldwide indicates that 81 percent of business leaders think they have already “embedded” sustainability, but Volans Executive Chairman John Elkington argues that, properly understood, sustainability is not the same as corporate social responsibility – nor can it be simply reduced to achieving an acceptable balance across economic, social and environmental bottom lines.

Instead, sustainability is about the fundamental, intergenerational task of winding down the dysfunctional economic and business models of the 19th and 20th centuries, and the evolution of new ones fit for the 21st century, he says.

In an upcoming book, The Zeronauts, he shines the spotlight on a new breed of innovators, entrepreneurs, investors and policy-makers who are pushing towards zero in such areas as population growth, pandemic risk, poverty, pollution and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

Join us to discuss ways in which corporations, citizens, cities and countries can tackle the challenges where demography, consumerist lifestyles, natural resource availability and climate change intersect.
