Today marks an important milestone for Visual.ly: the release of our tools for automatic infographic creation. Our team has made hundreds of infographics, so we know how hard it can be to find the data, do the necessary research, and make sure you are following the principles of good data visualization, while still coming up with a design that people will want to hang on their wall and spread through the interwebs.
That’s why we’ve built data feeds into a number of infographic designs, created for you by our team of expert designers. Making an infographic, based on your own data, couldn’t be easier. Simply connect and click to produce a professional-looking infographic. If you don’t like the first design you try, click though the themes until you find one that you do like.
Based on the first self made visualization tool, Visual.ly
does seem to be making the world of info graphics accessible. The visualizations need data which many people have – but the accessibility of the online source maybe too open (Facebook, twitter) for some. What will be difficult again for people is to make the data meaningful and extract the patterns and wisdom. Without it, they would just end up making pretty info graphics with no substance or insights.
One model they could follow is IBM’s Many Eyes
project. I think the input of various data types is good. However, the interface of Many Eyes is a bit more of a geeky one.
Visualisations are very powerful and if used well, your data-driven message will make a home run. Choose your visualization carefully!
